1. Possible topics that stem from your interview assignment / field of study.
A. I appreciated my professors thoughts on our interview. The journals and magazines he suggested were very helpful in begining my brainstorming process. The different sources started my thinking of how broad the genre for strings really is. As a string player we can play many styles from Jazz to Classical and even Hip Hop. Although his advice to himself as an undergrad didn't help my topic choosing, this advice has kept me motivated in striving beyond expectations.
B. One of the articles I read was from the European magazene The Strad. The article I looked into stressed how important it is to keep musically tallented kids in music programs. I understood and related to one issue this article presented. It stressed how even though a fifth grade level may have many string players in their school's program, by the time the fifth graders graduate to highschool levels many students are more likely to drop out of the music program. Following this issue, the article elaborated on ideas and stratigies to aid teachers in keeping and encourging students to stick with strings or any instrument through school. Although I understand that there are many issues in music, I have debated useing this issue in my paper. It would be interesting to find further information on this problem, but I also feel that the searches turn up redundant and begin to lack in interest.
C. Keeping students interested in the music department is a huge issue in my field. I have also considered looking into the broad genres strings are available to play. One topic that I believe would really interest me is researching idiot savants in the music field, or composers with sever mental issues.
2. About Technology and Literacy
A. Although debates don't appeal to me, the debate we had in class about technology and literacy was interesting. I think it would be helpful to research more about how well we retane information on a computer screen opposed to reading the physical text. Another topic that was stressed in our debate was if technology is helpful or harmful to parenting. Technology and Literacy also brought up the effects technology may have on publishing companies.
B. I do find some of these topics interesting, however I do not feel they spark my interest enough to look further into these issues to write a paper.
3. What other topic(s) are you interested in researching a writing about?
A. Other topics that I know a little about are: drug testing in the work place, counceling and if it can really make a person healthier from the inside out, and the legalization of marijuana in America.
B. Some topics I would like to learn more about are: government coverups like area 41, sports versus music in highschools, a college education versus the work force.
C. Some topics I have researched in the past are: Steinway & Sons, The Brittish Invasion, Surrealism.
4. Look back over the list of the topics and ideas you just generated. What stands out to you? Which topic would you find most enjoyable or most interesting?
A. One topic that really stands out to me is idiot savants and composers. Some others that are also interesting are drug testing in the work place, the legalization of marijuana, and government coverups.
5. Questions of the Anotated Bib.
A. At this point I do not really have many concerns about this assignment. I feel some of my toppics are broad enough to dig up enough research for my paper.
